(Lc. C.G. Roebling 'Sapphire' X Slc. Anzac 'Orchidhurst' FCC/RHS

This should be a very interesting cross indeed! It may be surprising to some that Slc Anzac has L. purpurata as a "grandparent". To my knowledge this cross has never been registered. I am not sure what to expect, especially considering that the purpurata heritage of the C.G. Roebling is from a "coereulea" type, and I would assume that the Anzac was made with one of the more lavender or reddish lavender purpurata types. Limited 2.5" pot - $15.00

Blc Spring Dawn

Spring Dawn is a beautiful medium lavender with a full ruffled lip with darker markings. It is a very vigorous grower, producing multiple leads, with two or more blooms on each spike. Large blooms around eight inches wide are produced on long, strong stems. Although it is primarily a spring bloomer, it appears to be somewhat light controllable and can bloom as late as Fall - sometimes twice a year. It has a nice fragrance too! Mature min. 3 bulb divisions with good "eye" or new growth $40.00

C. bowringiana v. Splendens ('Amethyst Cloud' x self)

The "grandaddy" of bowringianas. This is the plant on the splash page of this site - C. bowringiana 'Amethyst Cloud'. Bowringianas will eventually grow to produce literally gigantic plants that bear enormous clusters of up to 20 flowers on each stem. The blooms have a sparkling irridescence with round flat form and deep royal purple in the lip. A plant for the connoisseur. I have grown this plant for Over thirty years. The "pop-up" photo was taken in 1999, with 78 flowers, and the plant is almost twice that size now. Divisions of 'Amethyst Cloud' occasionally available for $250.00 - inquire for availability. Limited number of seedlings ('Amethyst Cloud' x self) 2.5" pots - $15.00

Lc. C. G. Roebling ('Sapphire X Self)

I have had a flood of inquiries about the possibility of divisions of this stud plant. Unfortunately, divisions are not available very often and are rather expensive. Therefore, I am offering seedlings of a selfing of this wonderful plant. The self crossing of the "Sapphire" should produce some variability in offspring, with the possibility that some will show even more blue shades in the petals. Sapphire produces blooms that are truly enormous. These seedlings were transplanted from compots and trays into individual 2" pots in October 2001. Although these develop somewhat slowly, they are all now well established, and most are ready for potting up into 3.5" or 4" pots. All have two to four growths with an averagt height of 5". I must limit orders to a maximum of two per customer, as they are limited in number, and it will be some time before I will be able to offer these again. There are a very limited number of larger plants available. Inquire about prices for larger plants. 2.5" pots. $20.00 each --- limit 2 per customer 3.5" pots $30.00 each - limit one per customer

Lc. C.G. Roebling 'Sapphire'
C. gaskelliana 'Blue Dragon' x L. purpurata 'Werkhauseri'

Possibly one of the most striking blue Cattleya flowers I have seen. Very large flowers approaching ten inches in width. The petals are faint light blue and are set off by glorious lips of deep blue with gold veining in the throat. It also produces up to five blooms per stem that are very long lasting. Mature divisions occasionally available - Contact us for price. SEEDLINGS FROM A SELFING OF THIS PLANT ARE NOW AVAILABLE -Limit 2 per customer - see that listing in this section.

Lc. Little Bow
(C bowringiana var splendens X Lc. Little Susie )

A remake of a cross made several years ago. These will produce robust, large bifoliates with nice substance and rich rose lavender colors in the flowers. Expect a large inflorescence with many flowers held high above the foliage. These should be striking when in bloom. 2.5" pot - $10.00

Slc. Anzac 'Orchidhurst' FCC/RHS

Another classic from the past, and still one of the most intensely colored lavender cattleya types. Modest size plants can bloom twice a year, and produce up to five or six flowers per stem, although usually three to four. The blooms are deep lavender with intense velvety royal red lavender lips. Write or call for availability of divisions and prices

Slc. Bowzac
(bowringiana splendens X Slc Anzac 'Orchidhurst' FCC/RHS)

This is a remake of a hybrid registered in 1968. I have not seen one of these in bloom, but the combination of the multifloral spikes of bowringiana, combined with the intense fuchsia tones of the Anzac should produce very colorful clusters of blooms. The more dimuntive size of the Anzac should produce plants of a more manageable size than bowringiana. Limited number of seedlings in 2.5" pots - $20.00 each
